Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the most special days of your life. You’ve spent months planning and organizing, and you want your hair to look perfect on that day. You don’t want to have to worry about frizz, flyaways, or other hair issues. So, what can you do to make sure your hair look great from the moment you walk down the aisle until the very end of the night? Here are some tips for how to have your hair stay in place and prevent frizz on your wedding day
1. Make sure to schedule the appointment with a professional stylist.
Getting a professional blowout which can helpgive your hair volume and lift at the root. During the blowout, your stylist will use products to smooth out any frizz and use techniques to style your hair. This will also help give your hair and good foundation to style your hair on wedding day.
2. Using the right hair products: Here are some common hair issues and my recommendations for styling products to address them:
Frizz - For frizz-prone hair, I
recommend a smoothing serum or cream. My go-to product is the Moroccanoil Treatment. It's lightweight, non-greasy, and helps to tame frizz while adding shine and nourishment to the hair.
Flat hair - To add volume and texture to flat hair, I suggest using a volumizing mousse or spray. One of my favorites is the Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam combined with
Paul Mitchell Root Boost It adds body and fullness to hair while still maintaining a natural look.
Dry, damaged hair - For dry and damaged hair, a hydrating leave-in conditioner or oil is a must. I recommend the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil. It helps to repair and strengthen hair while adding moisture and shine.
Thick, unruly hair - If you have thick and unruly hair, a smoothing or straightening cream can help to make it more manageable. My
favorite product for this is the
Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream. It helps to smooth and control even the most stubborn hair while still allowing for movement and flexibility.
Curly hair - For curly hair, a defining cream or gel is key to keeping curls looking defined and frizz-free. I love the Quidad Advanced Climate Control. It provides moisture, definition, and hold for all curl types. I recommend adding this to your hair just after washing, add a generous amount while still in the shower when the hair dripping wet then wrap in an aquas towel or tee shirt. The key is to leave as much water in the hair and lock in with the gel.
Remember, everyone's hair is different and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to experiment with different products and find what works best for your hair type and concerns.
3. Avoid washing your hair before your wedding.
Washing your hair can strip your hair of natural oils, which can lead to frizz and flyaways. If you need to absolutely wash your hair use a gentle shampoo and conditioner and make sure to apply only to the ends.
4. Use the right styling tools.
Use tools that are specifically designed for your hair type.If you have curly hair, you will want to use a diffuser to help define the curls and reduce frizz. If you have straight hair, a flat iron or curling iron can help your create the perfect style.
5. Prep your hair the night before the wedding
If you don't plan to get a professional blowout, you can prep your hair by using a setting spray to help keep the styling in place especially if it's an updo. If you plan on wearing your hair down, you can use a smoothing cream or anti frizz product and blow-dry your hair.
6. Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case.
This can help prevent breakage and keep your hair sleek and smooth, by following theses tips you can prevent frizz and have your hair stay in place for wedding day. Make sure you schedule a professional cut, color, and glazing a few weeks before your big day. The Glazing or glossing canals help with reducing frizz and give the hair and beautiful shine. By following these step your hair will last the entire day!
